Tom Solesbury
Tom raced in the men's eight at the 2009 World Championships in Poznan, finishing 5th. He had established his place in the boat during the 2009 World Cup Series, winning bronze in both Banyoles and Munich.
He raced in the men's pair at the Beijing Olympic Games 2008 and finished 13th.
Tom took up rowing at Warwick University to try and beat his brother, who had started rowing two years previously while at the University of Bath. He continued to row at Mortlake Anglian & Alpha Rowing Club while at Law School in London and during his two year training contract as a solicitor. Having qualified, he moved to Molesey Boat Club.
A newcomer to the GB senior rowing squad in 2005, Tom was selected in the GB eight for the 2006 World Championships and finished 5th; the following year in the same event he won a bronze medal at the World Championships in Munich. He raced in the eight in the 2008 World Cup series winning a silver and bronze.
Last year Tom completed an MSc in management research at Oxford University and gained his Blue in Oxford's victory in the 2009 Boat Race.
While at Ravenswood School, Tom won the Kent Cup for rugby and he is currently a season ticket holder at Crystal Palace FC. He has recently married fellow GB Rower Katie (née) Greves.
