Nathaniel Reilly-O'Donnell

Nathaniel Reilly O'Donnell.JPG

Nathaniel raced in the men's four at the 2010 World Rowing U23 Championships in Brest, Belarus where he won a silver medal. After winning their heat and semi-final, the four were contenders for gold but could not catch the fast starting Italians winning a creditable silver ahead of Australia.  Nathaniel also raced in the men's eight at Munich and Bled World Cups in 2010 winning bronze and gold respectively.

He was the men's sweep spare at the 2009 World Championships in Poznan.  This followed a successful season in which he won a bronze medal at the World U23 Championships in the men's eight and raced in the second men's four at the Munich World Cup regatta.

Nathaniel started rowing at St Leonard's School at age 12.  As his mother and two cousins also rowed at St Leonard's, the sport clearly runs in the family.  He is universally known as Noddy in the rowing world and has represented Great Britain at various levels during his rowing career.

In 2005 he raced at the World Junior Championships in the coxed four which finished 7th overall.  At U16 level, he competed in the pair in the J16 GB-France Match.  Both he and the GB team, won the match.  The following year he became World Junior Champion in the men's four.

As a captain of the Great Britain squad that competed at the 2007 Youth Olympic Festival in Australia, Noddy won three medals: two golds in the coxless four and the pair, and a silver in the eight.  That year he raced at the World U23 Championships in the men's eight and finished 6th.   In 2008 he took 5th place in the men's eight at the U23 Worlds and 6th place at the European Rowing Championships.

Domestically Nathaniel has also achieved success, notably winning the Prince Albert Challenge Cup, the student coxed fours event, at Henley Royal Regatta in 2007.

He is a recent law graduate from University College London with aspirations of finding a job once his rowing time ends.  Nathaniel has a keen interest in many sports, including rugby, football, cycling and running.  He also enjoys spending time with friends and his siblings - he has two brothers and two sisters, all of them younger than him.  His favourite pastime was mowing the lawn, but sadly now has astroturf and decking!

Nathaniel is Lottery Funded through UK Sport.
