Beth Rodford
For the 2010 World Cup Series Beth raced in the women's quadruple scull, winning gold in Bled, silver in Munich and gold in Lucerne.
In 2009 Beth showed her sculling prowess through Trials, making the A Final at the GB Rowing Team Senior Trials in April. She was selected in the women's quad for the 2009 season and raced in all three World Cups, winning gold in Banyoles, silver in Munich and coming 5th in Lucerne. These were creditable results for a new crew. She also doubled up into the women's double scull in Banyoles, placing 5th. At the 2009 World Rowing Championships in Poznan, the quad were 5th.
She raced at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games in the women's eight and finished 5th.
Beth is a former World U23 Champion who has also represented GB at junior and senior level. She raced in the eight in the 2007 World Cup series, always reaching the A Final and winning silver followed by a 5th and 4th place. In the 2008 World Cup series she raced in the eight finishing 5th and 6th before winning a bronze in Poznan.
Beth started rowing in 1995 at Gloucester Rowing Club and represented GB as a Junior in 1999 and 2000, winning bronze in the four at the World Junior Championships in 1999.
In 2001/2002 she spent a year rowing at Washington State University in the USA before returning to London to take up her Sport Science studies at Brunel University.
Beth became World U23 Champion in 2004 in the women's four coached by Gary Stubbs. Producing an excellent row in the final they demolished the field, leading by clear water after 500 metres to win an impressive and emphatic gold medal.
She won the pairs event at the GB Rowing Team Senior Trials in 2005 and raced in the pair and the eight at the Eton World Cup regatta, winning bronze in the latter event before switching to the four at the World Cup finals in Lucerne in July where she also took bronze. Beth went on to be part of the women's eight that performed so well at the 2005 World Championships in Japan, finishing 5th.
She followed this up at the 2006 World Cup final in Lucerne finishing 4th with the women's eight and racing with the eight at the 2006 World Championships at Eton where the crew finished 8th.
As well as her successes on the water, Beth holds the British Indoor Rowing record over 2000m at J13, 14, 15 and 16.
