With the start of the new year, we have another two articles to add to our archive. We now have over a year’s worth of articles on RowHow for you to refer back to. We hope you enjoy them!
All rowers are aware of the importance of rhythm in a boat, particularly in crew boats. In “Rhythm, Power and Recovery”, former GB rower and GB Rowing Team coach, Robin Williams explains how good rhythm can make the boat feel part of you and allow you to feel composed, powerful and relaxed. He talks about the three simple basics that all rowers should strive for to achieve good rhythm, and provides some ideas that can help you to do just that.
In “Making Headway”, sports journalist Martin Gough chats to Kieran Wood, Invictus medallist about the benefits of indoor rowing since he suffered a brain injury in a car accident. Martin’s article goes on to highlight benefits for a number of conditions and the accessibility of rowing. He also explains what coaches should be aware of when coaching people with disabilities.
