About the course:

What you'll learn: The British Rowing Club Coach (Fixed Seat) course is a recognised UKCC Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Rowing and is the first award for coaching individuals on the water. It is aimed at beginner coaches, and is applicable to coaches working with all groups, from novices to competent rowers. The award focuses on developing three coaching behaviours:

  • Having a concern for standards
  • Being a rower-focussed coach
  • Looking to develop continually as a coach.

Who can attend? Anyone over 16 years of age. You will also need to have completed some additional workshops before signing up to a Level 2 course. The prerequisites for this qualification are:

Current Emergency Aid and Safeguarding & Protecting Children training must be held at the time of booking your Independent Assessment.

For coaches aged 16-17:

You must be 16 at the time of booking. On completion of the course, if you are not yet 18, you will be given a official notification as evidence of completion of the training, and then you will be certificated on your 18th birthday. The certificate will be automatically generated for you then, and sent to you directly. Until you are 18, you must be supervised during all coaching activities, for further guidance please see this document.

You will be required to complete Safeguarding and Protecting Children 16-18 instead of the equivalent training for adults. This should be completed ahead of your final assessment (normally this takes place some weeks after the course).
