Start Coach for the Nottingham Start Programme

British Rowing has a vacancy for a coach for the Nottingham Start Programme. The role will be based at the National Watersports Centre and Nottingham Rowing Club. Start is a Lottery funded programme through UK Sport and Sport England.

About the Role

The aim of the Start programme is to build the future of the GB Rowing Team by identifying and developing potential Olympians. At London 2012, five of GB’s ten Olympic champions in rowing were from World Class Start. In Rio, eleven World Class Start rowers represented GB at the Olympic Games and eight won medals – five gold, three silver. In Tokyo, Start rowers won a further three medals.

This is an excellent opportunity to coach rowers on a daily basis as part of an innovative and successful programme. The coach will be responsible for delivering the Start programme in Nottingham, supporting the development of rowers onto the Olympic pathway.

The role will initially be for a fixed term period, from December 2022 to March 2023, and will focus on coaching a group of new beginner athletes recently recruited for the programme, as well as supporting a group of more established athletes. It therefore provides an excellent opportunity, which could either be suitable for an individual looking for their first experience of working within a high-performance environment, or a more experienced coach in a position to take on a short-term project.

For the right individual there is potential for the interim role to lead into an application for a permanent position from April 2023.

Expressions of interest, or to discuss the details of this position further, should be directed to Tom Pattichis, Olympic Pathway Manager, via email [email protected]

The role will be filled as soon as the right candidate is found, so please do not hesitate to apply. Applications might close earlier than the listed deadline.

Application Dates: From Tuesday 1st November 2022 to Monday 14th November 2022
