British Rowing is excited to announce that entries to the 2021 British Rowing Offshore Championships and Beach Sprint Finals are now open. The event will take place in Exmouth on the weekend of 16-18 July.

Barbara Wilson, chair of the British Rowing Offshore Championship 2021 organising committee commented, “We are very excited to finally be opening entries for the 2021 Offshore and Beach Sprint Championships, to be held in Exmouth, Devon. We are incredible grateful to Exmouth Rowing Club, East Devon District Council and the RNLI for their incredible support. We hope that the weather is kind to us this year so that both events can take place in full! We also have our fingers crossed that all government COVID restrictions will be lifted ahead of the event.”

The competition will begin on Friday morning, 16 July, with heats on the 4km course starting from the beach and finishing in deep water. The finals will have crews take on a longer 6km course with the same deep water finish. Sunday 18 July sees the Beach Sprint Championships where after a time trial for places, crews race head-to-head, starting on the beach and sprinting to their boats, held in the water by their boat-holders. The two crews then slalom out to sea around two buoys for 250m before turning around the final marker buoy for a straight sprint back to the shore. When they reach land, one member of the crew will jump out of the boat and sprint up to the beach to cross the finish line.

To enter the race, you can sign up through the British Rowing Online Entry System here.
