Further success for GB Rowing Team in Holland

British crews tasted success once more on the second day of the Amsterdam International “Holland Beker” Regatta with wins in the lightweight men’s single and women’s double scull, the women’s pair and the open women’s double scull.

Helen Glover and Heather Stanning produced the most dominant victory of the day to win by 13 seconds in the women’s pair from the two chasing Canadian entries.

Adam Freeman Pask took victory in the lightweight men’s single in 6:59.20 whilst lightweights Hester Goodsell and Sophie Hosking, racing in the open weight category, came through a tight race to win the women’s double scull.

Britain’s open weight men were not in action at the Regatta as they will take part in Henley Royal Regatta this week.  So, too, will the women’s eight.

Britain did field two women’s eights for the Amsterdam event and they were third and fourth today behind the winning Dutch crew. These two eights are targeting the European and World U23 Championships later this year.

Ekaterina Karsten of Belarus won the women’s single scull with Ondrej Synek winning the men’s equivalent race ahead of New Zealanders Emma Twigg and Mahe Drysdale respectively.
