Britannia III completes record attempt

Launch of Britannia 111

Despite having one of the worst years on record for their Atlantic crossing, Woodvale Challenge’s Britannia III has become the first 12 person crew to complete the Transatlantic Challenge Race and the seventh fastest.

Di Ellis, Chairman of British Rowing, took great pleasure in naming and launching Britannia III at the World Coastal Championships in Plymouth last year, and she has been taking a personal interest in the crew’s progress.

On hearing of their safe arrival Di said, ‘British Rowing salutes a boat worthy of the name Britannia and a crew who have displayed much fortitude and endurance in successfully crossing the Atlantic. Many congratulations from us all at British Rowing’
