FISA is the international federation for rowing and Chris and Judith passed the stringent written and practical exams in Vichy with flying colours, achieving the top two marks in the written paper.

They now join the exclusive list of GB FISA umpires, bringing the total to twenty-four.  Holders of the FISA licence must first hold an ARA or Scottish Rowing licence, endorsed for multi-lane courses, and must also have completed a qualifying course to enable them to be recommended to the FISA Umpiring Commission for examination.

Di Ellis, ARA Chairman, was delighted to hear the news and commented, "This is a great achievement.  These exams have always been tough and as time goes on there is more and more to be learnt.  Their success is a credit to them and to the work done by all our Umpires."
