Siemens Stroke for Stroke Week

ARA members across the country are raising money while they row, all in aid of Siemens Stroke for Stroke Week. Rowers know that every stroke counts, and are kick starting winter training by rowing a sponsored 10km or more to raise vital funds for The Stroke Association.

The campaign, which is being backed by Four-time Olympic Gold Medallist, Sir Matthew Pinsent, aims to highlight benefits of regular exercise, and raise awareness of the UK’s third biggest killer.  Strokes are potentially fatal brain attacks that strike suddenly without warning and can affect healthy athletes, men, women and children of all ages.

The sponsored rows will take place across the country between 27th October and 2nd November 2008. Club members can sign up for individual sponsorship or register as a squad and race against other clubs and crew by checking the online league to see who is covering the most kms and raising the most money.

It’s not just pride at stake as the overall top fundraising club will win rowing kit for their club worth up to £500!
