What We Do

British Rowing is the governing body for the sport of rowing (both indoor rowing and rowing on water). It is responsible for the training and selection of individual rowers and crews representing Great Britain and for participation in and development of rowing and indoor rowing in England. We are committed to ensuring that the sport continues to thrive from the grass roots right up to winning medals at the Olympic Games.

Rowing in Scotland and Wales is governed and organised nationally by Scottish Rowing and the Welsh Amateur Rowing Association (WARA), but when it comes to representing Great Britain's interests to the international rowing federation, FISA, this comes under the British Rowing's umbrella.

British Rowing represents rowing's interests on the British Olympic Association (BOA), the Central Council for Physical Recreation (CCPR), UKSport, Sport England, government and non-governmental agencies and many other partner organisations.
