Teacher Training

British Rowing works closely with sportscoach UK (ScUK), the Association for PE (AfPE) and Skills Active to ensure that our education and training meets PESSYP requirements. British Rowing delivers both Coaching for Teachers and the United Kingdom Coaching Certificate (UKCC).

Coaching Awards

• Indoor Rowing - the British Rowing award has been developed by an educational consultant with extensive school, heath and physical activity experience. The award is suitable for teachers, adults other than teachers and pupils who have achieved the Junior Rowing Leaders Award. This is the only indoor rowing training accredited by PESSYP.
• UKCC in Indoor Rowing - this award is certified by Skills Active and ScUK.  There are two levels and we recommend that fitness instructors working in schools to deliver indoor rowing should hold at least level 1.  More details can be found in our Secondary Schools Indoor Rowing leaflet.
• UKCC in Water-based Rowing - there are three levels of award that are currently available, L2, L3 and L4. Schools participating in water-based activity should ensure that coaches hold Level 2 or above.
