Thames

Thames Region The clubs of the Thames Regional Rowing Council are based along the course of the river Thames from its head waters in Oxford to Tower Bridge. The region's registered rowers represent approximately 41% of British Rowing's total registered membership.

The region has 10 British Rowing divisions whose representatives cover more than 60 open rowing clubs, 60 universities and colleges, 46 schools and 70 events, including 30 regattas and 40 head races.

The 2000m course at Dorney Lake near Eton was the venue for the Rowing World Cup and the Coupe de la Jeunesse in 2005 and the World Rowing Championships in 2006. It will host the Olympic Rowing Regatta in 2012.

The 2000m Caversham rowing lake near Reading provides a first class training facility for our high performance athletes.
