In the last 500m there's some tired crews out there.  The Chinese really lose their technique in last 500m but hold on to win in 7:23.71.  Germany take the last semi-final spot.

China seem to have this in the bag.  Germany in second with a length over the USA but it looks like the US are really pushing Germany now.

China now lead ahead of Germany by just under a length.  USA about a length and a half down on Germany.

Approaching 1500m and New Zealand have moved out into the front and GB are in second half a length ahead of Australia.

Blistering finish from USA who win in 5:38.95, Australia take second. Netherlands finish third and Poland finish fourth with China just missing out on a qualifying spot by 0.05 seconds.

So close in this race - Australia now lead 2ft ahead of US, Netherlands currently in third and Germany now down in fourth.  Poland and China still really close though.

So now onto the repechage of the men's eight - 6 crews with four to progress to the final.  Australia looking for a bit of better luck after their steering failure yesterday.

Great race from Cuba there - Estonia win in 6:01.46 but Cuba finish just with overlap with Cuba.  Czechs take the third semi-final spot.

Amazing push from Cuba they looked well out of it after the first 500m but really pulled it back.

Estonia now leading ahaead of the Czech Republic but Cuba are really pushing through and lead ahead of Slovenia.

Cuba have forced their way back into the race at 1000m - Slovenia now down in fourth.  Czech Republic still leads.

Germany win (6:36.17) with just over a length and then USA come in second.  Ukraine and Australia in a photo finish for third but Australia just pip it.  Canada comes through in fifth just missing out on a spot in the final.

Strong finish by Ireland winning by over a length in 6:21.79.  Netherlands come through ahead of USA.  Egypt finish in fourth.

As we come through 1000m, Netherlands are leading about half a length up on Ireland who are half length up on the USA.

Hungary have completely blown and Portugal have charged through to win ahead of Cuba in 6:39.02.  Japan come through in third and then Hungary who lost it completely in the last 500m.

The former world champions Hungary will be really dissapointed in that.

Hungary still lead by a few feet over Japan, Cuba still close to Japan but now also being pushed by Portugal.

Great last 500m and Germany really charged through for the line and take the win in 6:41.42 - Australia take the second semi-final spot.  Uruguay third, Brazil fourth, Hong Kong fifth and Algeria and sixth.

Germany challenging Australia at the front of the pack and now lead by a couple of feet.  Uruguay have pushed past Brazil again.

Australia still had the lead by about half a length from Germany.  Germany have a length over Brazil in lane 1 who have overtaken Uruguay.

Just to fill you in in the first repechage of the women's lightweight double sculls, USA won in a time of 7:22.22.  Finland and Japan took the last semi-final spots.

GB just hold of a last minute push from Greece winning in a time of 7:24.23 by about a foot.  Cuba take the last qualifying spot.

Through 1500m and it's still GB still in the lead by about 3/4 length over Greece.  Cuba still in third and Mexico in fourth.
