Gloucester School Games

Hartpury College hosted the Gloucester School Games Level 3 event, which included indoor rowing for the first time as 60 competitors from the five borough areas battled it out in a number of different event classifications.

In a slightly modified format, the Year 7s and 8s raced over two minutes, with Mateus Sktowski from Bournside School taking the boys’ title and Charlotte Ruston of Sir Wiliam Romney’s taking the girls’ title.

The Year 9s and 10s raced over four minutes – the boys’ race proving the most competitive event of the day with Jordan Lawrence from Cleeve School holding on to win by 4m. Duncan Lomberg from Sir William Romney’s just held off Joe Freer from Katherine Lady Berkeley’s by 1m for second place in a very tight race to the line.

In the girls’ event, the indoor rowers from Ribston Hall High locked out the top four places – taking all three medals home. Amy Maiden claimed the gold from team mates Laura Ingram (Silver) and Gemma Richards.
