Olympic Tickets: What Next?

25th January

Tickets for this summer’s Olympic Games will go back on sale in April, the London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG) announced last week.

After teething difficulties with Ticketmaster’s ticket resale system, LOCOG has revealed that it will purchase all unwanted tickets over a two-week period before putting them back up on sale to the general public at a later late.

For current ticketholders who wish to offer their tickets up for resale, the two-week period for doing so ends at 6pm on Friday 3 February.

Until then, unwanted tickets can be posted on www.tickets.london2012.com, where they will be purchased by LOCOG at face value.

These tickets will then be made available to the public in April – the process for which will be announced by LOCOG in due course.

‘We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by the suspension of our ticketing resale platform,’ said LOCOG Commercial Director Chris Townsend. ‘We made a commitment to our customers to give them a safe, secure and legal way of selling Olympic and Paralympic tickets which they are no longer able to use.

'Every ticket we purchase from the public will be offered back to the public from April. We believe this system – purchasing the tickets back from customers now, and offering them again from April, will result in a better customer experience for everyone’.

Meanwhile, there are still tickets available for the Paralympic Rowing Regatta, on Friday 31 August and Saturday 1 September.

Tickets can be purchased for just £10 each at www.tickets.london2012.com.
