Norwich Union RC becomes Broadland Boat Club

The future of the 100 year old Norwich Union Rowing Club was in doubt earlier this year as a result of the Aviva Insurance group selling off its sports and social club facilities.

After numerous negotiations and much hard work we are pleased to let you all know that the club is continuing as Broadland Boat Club. This club has been formed by the merger of the rowing club with the Gateway Youth Partnership Canoe Club at the start of October. It is based at the former Norwich Union boathouse in Norwich and offers both rowing and canoeing facilities for its members with an emphasis on getting complete beginners started in both sports.

The club would like to thank all those whose efforts over the last year have made this possible and whose continued efforts have seen the membership of the new club take off. We would also like to thank Yare Boat Club for their time and energy helping the club earlier in the year.
