The 2010 World Rowing Masters Regatta

The 2010 World Rowing Masters Regatta is about to get under way in St Catharines, Canada, and nearly 3,000 rowers have signed up to participate in the event which takes places from today (2nd) to 5th September.

GBR will be well represented by a large amount of crews from British Rowing clubs and will be amongst competitors from 34 countries.

British Rowing is delighted to announce the winners of the Coach of the Year Awards 2010.

This year there has been a marked increase in the number of nominations received for the Awards and the usual high standard was maintained. It is clear that an enormous amount of hard work is going on in clubs up and down the country - the judging panel were faced with an extremely difficult task.

Simon Fothergill is a PhD student at the Computer Laboratory, University of Cambridge who is investigating systems to aid the coaching of rowing that provide sophisticated forms of feedback based on athlete kinetics to help rowers improve their performance and avoid injury. He would be very grateful if you could complete a short, online questionnaire to help him collect users' opinions on these forms of feedback.

Year 10 Students Take on a Challenge

In mid-August, year 10 students Ben Cox and Ryan Haines from Sir William Borlase's school in Marlow rowed the length of the Thames from Lechlade in Gloucestershire to the House of Parliament. The aim of the 145 mile challenge was to raise as much money as possible for their school’s rowing club in order to buy a new racing 8.
