National Championships

National ChampionshipsBritish Rowing's National Championships committee is responsible for organising and running the National Rowing Championships of Great Britain.

The event, which receives over 800 entries, is held annually in mid-July.  It usually takes place at the National Water Sports Centre at Holme Pierrepont in Nottingham but every fourth year moves to Scotland, to Strathclyde Country Park near Glasgow.

British Rowing's organising committee also includes representatives from the Scottish Rowing and Welsh Amateur Rowing Association and the outcome of some of the racing decides the teams for the Home International Regatta in August.

Adaptive rowing and under-23 events have recently been introduced to the race programme as part of the team's commitment to developing and improving the regatta.

In 2007, Nottingham County Cllr Carroll visited the championships. He was extremely impressed with the quality of rowing and the level of organisation shown by the volunteers. He was positive in his support for retaining the lake as a centre for rowing.
