Tom Burton
For the 2010 World Cup Series, Tom raced in GB's second men's pair with Cameron Nichol, finishing 8th in Bled, 5th in Munich and 9th in Lucerne.
Tom finished 5th in the men's eight at the 2009 World Championships in Poznan, after the crew achieved a direct A-Final qualification from their heat overhauling Australia on the last stroke. He had established his place in the boat during the 2009 World Cup series, winning bronze in Banyoles and Munich and 4th in Lucerne. He finished 3rd in the pair in the 2009 GB Rowing Team Senior Trials, a very promising performance.
Tom learnt to row at Bedford School where he also played rugby.
He went to Oxford Brookes University where he won 4 Henley medals including the Visitors Challenge Cup. He joined Leander Club in 2005 and represented GB at the European Championships in the men's eight in 2007 and 2008, finishing 5th and 6th respectively.
He is currently studying to become a quantity surveyor.
