John Preston

John was selected in the lightweight men's double for the 2009 World U23 Championships, where he finished 9th.

At the 2008 World U23 Championships, John finished 7th in the same boat class. In 2007 he raced at the World Junior Championships in the quad, making the A final from a large field.

John learned to row at Durham Amateur Rowing Club and subsequently took it up at Durham School.

John took his A-Levels at Yarm School, during which time he won a gold medal at the National Schools Regatta in the quad event.

He went on to be selected for the Coupe de la Jeunesse in 2006, where he won a gold and silver in the men's quad.

John is currently at Reading University studying accounting and management.
