James Roberts

James raced in the adaptive mixed double at the 2009 World Championships in Poznan, finishing in 5th place, having already raced in the same boat class, with new doubles partner Samantha Scowen, winning a gold, silver and bronze medal at the Varese International and Munich World Cup Regattas. 

He raced in the TA mixed double scull at the 2008 Paralympic Games and finished 5th.

 He started rowing in February 2006 in Cardiff and raced his first three seasons with Karen Cromie in the TA2x.  In 2007 they finished 8th in the World Championships ensuring a qualifying place for the 2008 Paralympic Games.

A talented swimmer, James swam on the GB development team in 2004 and 2005.

James has completed an HND in Sports Science in 2007 and is currently studied for a BSc in Sports Science at Swansea University.  He has recently re-located to Caversham in order to train full time with the Adaptive squad.

James is interested in many different sports and describes himself as 'sport-mad'.  He enjoys karate, taekwondo and ten-pin bowling and is an avid Manchester United fan.

James is Lottery Funded through UK Sport.
