James Lindsay-Fynn

James was selected in the lightweight men's four for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and finished 5th.

James is the reigning World Champion in the lightweight four. In 2007 he won the World Cup series in the lightweight four winning bronze, silver and gold in the three event series. In the 2008 World Cup series he raced in the lightweight four finishing 2nd, 5th and 6th.

James started his rowing career at the age of 15 as a cox at Eton College and was selected to cox the GB men's pair at the World Rowing Junior Championships in 1991, finishing 7th. Two years later he 'converted' to rowing. His rowing career took off while he was at Trinity College, Dublin.

In 2005 he impressed the selectors at the GB Rowing Senior Trials where he finished 2nd in the lightweight men's single. He was then selected for the lightweight double scull, finishing 4th in the World Cup at Eton and 6th at Munich. He and Mark Hunter went on to win the B Final in this Olympic class at the 2005 World Rowing Championships in Japan.

In the same combination, the 2006 World Cup produced a third in the Munich B Final, a bronze in Poznan and 6th place in Lucerne. James went on, with Mark Hunter, to finish 8th in the 2006 World Rowing Championships at Eton in the lightweight men's double scull.

James was born in Dublin and grew up on a farm in Co. Meath but has now settled in the UK and has recently returned to working as a banker in the City of London.
