Dan is selected in the men's eight for the 2009 World Championships in Poznan.

He has been training with the senior men's squad over the 08/09 winter and raced in the U23 men's eight at the 2009 World U23 Championships in Racice, where he won a bronze medal.

2008 was Dan's first year of U23s, having narrowly missed out on a squad place in 2007.  He raced in the second men's four at the 2008 World Cup in Lucerne and gained selection in the four at the 2008 World U23 Championships, finishing in 6th place.

Dan was selected for GB Rowing's World Class Start Programme, sponsored by Siemens, in 2006.

He was originally a talented swimmer, racing the 1500m for GB at the European Junior Championships in 2004 and achieving a world ranking of 72. Dan then moved to Australia and attended a school that was strong in rowing which gave him the idea to try it one day and he did this on his return to the UK. His older sister also represented GB at swimming.

In 2006, after just 9 months of rowing, Dan won the elite single sculls at Marlow Regatta and Senior 2 single sculls at Metropolitan Regatta.

His hobbies include reading books, going to the movies and coaching swimming. Outside rowing, Dan's long term ambition is to join the police force.

Dan is Lottery Funded through UK Sport.
