Cameron Nichol
For the 2010 World Cup Series, Cameron raced in GB's second men's pair with Tom Burton, finishing 8th in Bled, 5th in Munich and 9th in Lucerne.
Cameron raced in the second men's four at the 2008 World Cup in Lucerne. Unfortunately illness kept him out of World's selection for 2009.
Originally a schoolboy basketball player at Milfield, Cameron tried rowing when he went to University of London because he was unable to play basketball at university to a high level and wanted to compete at the Olympics. He remains a fan of the sport however and supports the LA Lakers.
He won his first GB vest in 2007, winning bronze in the four at the World U23 Championships, less than two years after taking up the sport. Also that year Cameron won the Prince Albert Challenge Cup, the student coxed fours event, at Henley Royal Regatta, was a BUSA gold medal winner in the Championship pairs event and raced in the eight in the European Championships, finishing 5th.
In 2008 he was injured after racing the semi-final in the GB Under 23 Four at the World U23 Championships and was unable to race in the crew in the A Final.
While growing up, Cameron lived in various countries around the world, including Singapore, Dubai and Japan and, as a result of his time there, he speaks Japanese. He is in the final stages of his Medical Degree and will qualify as a doctor straight after the Olympics. He hopes to pursue a career in surgery.
Cameron is Lottery Funded through UK Sport.
