Bill Lucas

Bill was discovered through GB Rowing's World Class Start Programme, sponsored by Siemens, in 2004 and although still U23 has gained his place in the senior men's quad for the 2009 World Cup series.
In 2005 he rowed in the GB junior quad, finishing 5th. He took a gap from GB Rowing in 2006 to complete his A Levels and in 2007 was selected for the World U23 Championships winning a bronze medal in the double with Charles Cousins. That same year he was also a reserve for the senior team. In 2008 Bill was part of the men's quad which narrowly missed Olympic qualification. He then teamed up again with Cousins at the World U23 Championships where they showed their class winning the gold medal to become World U23 Champions.
Bill rowed originally at Dart Totnes rowing club and he credits his first coach and mentor Will Hawkyard with much of his success to date.
Bill is in his 3rd year at Reading University, studying Politics and International Relations. His best non rowing achievement was climbing Mt Kilimanjaro in 2004.
Bill is Lottery Funded through UK Sport.
