Alice Freeman

Alice raced in two of the three World Cups in 2009, where she won in the women's eight in Banyoles and took 6th place in GB's second women's pair in Munich. Injury unfortunately ruled her out of racing at the World Championshps after she had won selection.
She went to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games as one of the spares and due to illness in the crew was selected in the women's eight for the final where the boat finished 5th.
Alice started rowing at Hatfield College in Durham and rapidly moved on to the University Club.
Alice was one of GB's rowing 'finds' in 2007 gaining her first GB vest when she was selected to race in the women's eight and won the bronze medal at the World Championships in Munich that year. The following month she won bronze, again in the women's eight, at the European Championships in Poznan.
After graduating from university Alice had 2 years away from rowing whilst she travelled and worked in South Africa. She then started a PGCE at Oxford University and rowed in the Oxford winning boat in 2004. She rowed with Oxford University women's squad for 2 years before moving to Wallingford Rowing Club to learn to scull.
Alice has taken time out from her career as a maths teacher to focus on her rowing.
Alice is Lottery Funded through UK Sport.
