For the second World Cup of the 2012 season in Lucerne, Tom raced in the men's quadruple scull. The crew won the "B final", finishing 7th overall. At the final World Cup in Munich, the same crew finished in 4th place.
At the 2012 GB Rowing Team Senior Trials held on 10/11 March at Eton/Dorney, Tom came 6th in the men's single scull.
During the 2011 World Cup Series, Tom and crewmates Stephen Rowbotham, Bill Lucas and Sam Townsend raced in the men's quadruple sculls, taking 4th place in Munich and a an excellent silver medal in Lucerne. This followed a win at Henley Royal Regatta where the crew beat the 2010 World Champions, Croatia, convincingly in the final.
At the 2011 GB Rowing Team Senior Trials held on 16-17 April at Eton/Dorney, Tom took 4th place in the men's single scull.
Tom took up rowing at Warwick University to try and beat his brother, who had started rowing two years previously while at the University of Bath. He continued to row at Mortlake Anglian & Alpha Rowing Club while at Law School in London and during his two year training contract as a solicitor. Having qualified, he moved to Molesey Boat Club.
A newcomer to the GB senior rowing squad in 2005, Tom was selected in the GB eight for the 2006 World Championships and finished 5th. The following year in the same event he won a bronze medal at the World Championships in Munich.
He raced in the eight in the 2008 World Cup series winning a silver in Munich and bronze in Lucerne, before going to the Beijing Olympic Games where he raced in the men's pair with Robin Bourne-Taylor and finished 13th.
Tom raced in the men's eight at the 2009 World Championships in Poznan, finishing 5th. He had established his place in the boat during the 2009 World Cup Series, winning bronze in both Banyoles and Munich.
Tom completed an MSc in management research at Oxford University and gained his Blue in Oxford's victory in the 2009 Boat Race.
While at Ravenswood School, Tom won the Kent Cup for rugby and he is currently a season ticket holder at Crystal Palace FC.
