Tom Broadway
Tom has been injured for most of the 21011 Summer Season but completed as a Racing spare in the men's single at the 2011 World Cup in Lucerne finishing a creditable 3rd in the C final.
At the 2010 World Rowing Championships on New Zealand's Lake Karapiro, Tom won a fine silver medal in the eight, along with crewmates James Clarke, Cameron Nichol, James Foad, Mohamed Sbihi, Greg Searle, Tom Ransley, Dan Ritchie and cox Phelan Hill. This was an excellent step on for the crew, who were only six-tenths of a second behind the reigning world champions, Germany, as they crossed the line. The bronze medal went to Australia.
For the 2010 World Cup Series, Tom raced in the men's eight, winning a bronze medal in Munich and taking another bronze in Lucerne which was a significant step up for the crew given the calibre of the field there.
Tom first represented GB at the 2000 World Rowing Junior Championships, finishing 9th in the coxed pair. He gained his first senior GB vest in the men's pair at the 2005 World Championships in Gifu, Japan, finishing tenth.
At the 2008 European Championships in Greece he raced in the eight finishing 6th.
Tom finished 5th in the men's eight at the 2009 World Championships in Poznan, after the crew achieved a direct A-Final qualification from their heat by overhauling Australia on the last stroke. This followed 8th place in the second GB men's four at the 2009 Munich World Cup and 4th place in the eight in Lucerne.
Tom completed a BSc and MSc in Physiology at University College London and Brunel University, and studied finance at Birbeck University.
Tom is Lottery Funded through UK Sport.
