Matthew Rossiter

Matt raced in the men's four at the 2010 World Rowing U23 Championships in Brest, Belarus where he won a silver medal.  He then moved to the men's eight for the FISU World University Rowing Championshps in Hungary, this time winning gold in a boat that took the lead from the start and continued to extend that lead, finishing a length ahead of Estonia, with Ireland in third place.

Matt has represented GB at both U23 and junior level.  He was a gold medallist at the 2007 World Junior Championships in the men's four and finished 5th in the eight at the 2008 World U23 Championships.   He competed at the Youth Olympic Festival in Sydney in 2009, winning gold in the pair, four and eight, then went on to race in the men's eight at the 2009 World U23 Championships, winning a bronze medal..

Matt started rowing when he was 14 at Abingdon School which has a strong record of producing GB rowers.

He is in his first year at Durham University studying Biology and hopes to study Medicine later on.  Matt enjoys sailing and skling and he also collects marbles - over 1000 so far!
