Lottie Howard-Merrill
Lottie has been selected in the women's four for the 2010 World Rowing U23 Championships in Brest, Belarus. She was in the fastest U23 women's double at the GB Rowing Team Senior Trials in Hazewinkel in April this year and went on to win the Elite 4- race at Henley Women's Regatta.
Having always enjoyed spending time in the open air, Lottie began rowing when she started her new school. In 2006, after winning the School Coxed Four at Henley Women's Regatta, she gained her first international vest at the World Junior Championships in Amsterdam where she took bronze in the women's four. In 2007 she won gold in the women's four and bronze in the pair at the Munich Junior Regatta. She then raced in the four at the 2007 World Rowing Junior Championships in Beijing, coming 6th.
In 2009 Lottie competed at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival, where she won gold in both the women's four and the pair.
Lottie spent three and a half months in Vietnam in 2009 where she taught in a school which specialised in English teaching. She hopes to return in the future to visit the friends she made there and hopefully use her degree in Geography to start a career in International Development.
