Kathryn Twyman
For the first World Cup of the 2012 season in Belgrade, Kathryn raced in the lightweight women's single scull, winning a silver medal.
At the 2011 European Rowing Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, Kathryn raced in the lightweight women's double scull with crewmate Andrea Dennis. The duo won a silver medal, with Greece taking the gold.
Kathryn won gold at the 2011 World Rowing Championships in Bled racing in the lightweight women's quad with crewmates Stephanie Cullen, Imogen Walsh and Andrea Dennis.
At the first world cup of 2011 in Munich, Kathryn and crewmate Andrea Dennis won a silver medal in the lightweight women's double scull in a race with Hester Goodsell and Sophie Hosking who won the gold to give Great Britain a historic "one, two" in this event.
Kathryn grew up playing football, but tore a ligament in her knee prior to starting University. Therefore, instead of playing football, Kathryn learned to row during her first year at University and continued to row for the duration of her degree. Kathryn graduated from Dartmouth College in 2009 with a double major in Physics and Chemistry and a minor in Biology. Kathryn is currently working towards a PhD in Physical and Theoretical Chemistry at the University of Oxford on a Rhodes Scholarship.
In her spare time, Kathryn enjoys hiking and biking, particularly in the mountains, or along the coast.
