Jonathan (Jonny) Walton
At the 2012 GB Rowing Team Senior Trials held on 10/11 March at Eton/Dorney, Jonny came 8th in the men's single scull.
At the 2011 World Rowing U23 Championships in Amsterdam, Jonny raced in the men's single scull, missing out on the A final by less than a second so progressed to the B final, where he came 2nd.
At the 2010 World Rowing U23 Championships, Jonny competed in the men's quadruple scull finishing 9th.
He started rowing in 2005 having attended local regattas with his famiily who were involved in the sport. He joined Leicester Rowing Club where his coach was Howard Marsh who is now his coach at Loughborough. In 2008 Jonny represented GB at the Coupe de la Jeunesse where he won gold in the junior men's double scull. He was also a winner of the Fawley Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta that year, racing in the J4x.
He was a member of the GB squad that competed in the 2009 Australian Youth Olympic Festrival, where he was fourth in the single scull, took silver in the men's quad and won gold in the eight.
Jonny is currently studying Sport & Exercise Sciences at Loughborough University.
