Ertan raced in the men's coxed four at the 2010 World Rowing U23 Championships in Brest, Belarus where he won a bronze medal.

In 2009 he gained his first international vest at the World Rowing Junior Championships in Brive-la-Gaillarde, finishing 5th in the men's coxed four. 

When not rowing Ertan enjoys watching films, long walks on the beach, music and cycling.  He is due to start studying French and Russian at University College London in September this year.
