At the first World Cup of 2011 in Munich Emily raced in the women's eight, taking a silver medal behind the Netherlands with Romania in 3rd.

Emily started rowing in the Fresher's squad at Durham University, after being approached casually by a member of the University Boat Club.
Emily won her first GB vest in 2007 and a bronze medal in the four at the World U23 Championships in Strathclyde. The following year she also won a bronze medal at the 2008 World U23 Championships in the pair.
She won a gold medal in the women's eight at the 2009 U23 Championships in Racice. This was a strong achievement by the crew who led from the first stroke. Although the US closed a little in the dying strokes of the race, the result was never in doubt and GB had its first ever gold in this class - the outcome of a long term strategy to build this project.
She was a bronze medallist at the National Championships in 2006 in the U23 single scull event. Emily is also a two-time Northumbrian Boat Race winner, in 2006 in the freshwomen eight and in 2007 in the senior women's eight.
