Phew! The British Rowing Conference has come, gone and been successfully conquered. For the past few months it has been a huge focus of my work here in ‘publications' at Head Office but proved worth all the effort.

It was a fantastic occasion to celebrate the name change to British Rowing and the Volunteer of the Year Awards and it was really interesting to see how everyone was looking forward to the future of British Rowing.

The 22nd-23rd of August saw the second annual Amputee Games held at Stoke Mandeville Stadium in Aylesbury. The Games is aimed at those who have become amputees in recent years and offers the opportunity to try out 13 Paralympic sports including fencing, basketball, shooting, archery and for the first time rowing. 

Hi - my name is Rich Stock and I've recently started as Explore Rowing Programme Manager.  I have to say I'm really excited to be working on this programme.

April 2009 is a great time to be posting my first blog on the website, it’s the start of our new four year plan – until now it’s been templates, charts, words, tough negotiating with Sport England about targets and funding – but at last it’s time for some action!

As Honorary Water Safety Adviser I often get asked questions about our Row Safe document.  I’m always happy to answer the questions in person or via email but thought I’d use this my first (ever!) blog to share some of the answers with everyone.

As Chairman of the Association I attend many club openings and award ceremonies and it’s always wonderful to see how successful our sport has become and a privilege to meet some of the people who are making it happen.  The Women’s Head of the River Race prize-giving which took place on 19th March, is an event that’s particularly close to my heart and this year was again special for a number of different reasons.  

Communication is a key word at Hammersmith at the moment and it’s no coincidence that we’re launching this new section of the website now.
