National Committees

The committees who report to Council through their Chairman are:

The National Coaching Committee

Links the Technical Panel, the National Coaching and Development team, the National Associations and the regions and clubs to co-ordinate the development of all aspects of coaching at local, regional and national level for all types of rowing.

Chairman:  Kate O'Sullivan

The National Competition Committee

Responsible for applying and interpreting the Rules of Racing and putting forward any amendments deemed necessary for approval by Council.  Prepares and co-ordinates the annual regatta calendar for publication.  Liases with the National Championships committee.  The committee is also responsible for investigating any infringements of the rules.

Chairman:  Fiona Dennis

The National Development Committee

Builds participation in the sport, both in the field of competition and leisure rowing, as well as veteran, touring and adaptive rowing.  It co-ordinates projects and ensures and clear link between national and regional policies, aims and objectives.  Develops and supports existing and new clubs, water facilities, safety, centres of excellence and the development of special programmes for target groups.

The British Rowing Championships Committee

The committee is responsible for organising and running the annual British Rowing Championships.

Commissions that report to Council through the above committees are:

Junior Rowing Commission

Develops and promotes junior rowing in clubs and schools, co-ordinating the work of the regional councils in junior rowing.  It advises the National Coaching and National Competition Committees and Chief Coach (Juniors) an all aspects of junior rowing. 

Chairman:  Mike Martin 

Masters Rowing Commission

Responsible for increasing participation in veteran rowing.  It acts as the Management Committee of the British Rowing Open Veteran Championships.  Encourages the development of new veteran regattas whereve possible and recommends any changes to the rules and practices where change might be advantageous to the development of veteran rowing.

National Umpires Commission

Responsible to the National Competition Committee for the administration, training and examination of umpires.
