CRB Checks
Applying for your form
If you have been asked by your club or by British Rowing to fulfill a role as a volunteer or an employee, on a regular or intensive basis, involving direct contact with and responsibility for juniors or vulnerable adults and have been asked by your Club Welfare Officer (CWO) or by British Rowing to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure, you will need to complete self-declaration form WG 2.6.
Please note that we cannot accept applications that state ‘club member’ or ‘club captain’. You can download the form here. This should be completed and posted back to Laura Fieldman, British Rowing, 6 Lower Mall, Hammersmith, London W6 9JG, marked ‘private and confidential’. A full set of application papers will then be mailed out to your CWO who will liaise with you about completing them and carrying out the necessary ID checks.
Please note that the CRB will no longer accept requests on the basis of an individual having access to data relating to juniors or vulnerable adults, and therefore club secretaries and other database users are no longer required to apply for a Disclosure.
If you have already had a CRB Disclosure through British Rowing which is now due for renewal (currently every three years), the process is the same as for first time applications.
Once you have received your application form from your CWO, you should refer to guidance document SPCG16 for information on how to complete it correctly.
See WG 2.3 for further guidance on completing your CRB Disclosure form.
If you have any questions at all about the process please email Laura Fieldman, Child Protection Administrator, at British Rowing or telephone 020 8237 6707.
